Invisalign and clear aligner therapy
Invisalign was created in 1999 and is an exciting, innovative method of straightening teeth using breakthrough technologies without bands, brackets or wires. Instead, it uses a series of virtually invisible custom made removable aligners that are like very thin clear mouthguards to slowly move your teeth.
Over time, other similar technologies have emerged and we at Whyte Orthodontics now match the best available clear aligner system to your specific needs to maximise the quality of your treatment while keeping the costs down.
How does it work?
We use 3D imaging to plan your treatment. The great thing about this is you can see what the results will look like even before you commence treatment.
Your teeth are then straightened in stages. At regular visits, we will give you three or four new Invisalign aligners that you progress through every two weeks or so. We will also monitor your progress, sometimes doing additional procedures to allow treatment to run smoothly. Invisalign aligners are comfortable to wear and are also removable, allowing you to eat, drink, brush and floss as usual.
Invisalign treatment time
Invisalign usually takes between six and 24 months with an average time of about 12 months. You’ll need to attend the clinic every six to eight weeks so we can monitor your progress. Treatment will work for most people provided you wear your aligners 22 hours daily. Our experienced team can ensure that your Invisalign treatment will be successful.
